Clone a Drive or Install Windows Fresh?

A clone aims to preserve a working setup. A fresh installation starts with a clean operating system and requires a separate plan for files and programs.

We check compatibility and quote parts and shipping before you send your laptop.

Choose cloning for continuity

If the existing drive is readable and Windows works well apart from storage speed, cloning can keep accounts, apps, and settings familiar. Our standard $99 HDD-to-SSD starting labor includes a clone in this situation. We still recommend a separate backup before shipment and verify boot after the move.

Choose a fresh start deliberately

When the source drive is unreadable, Windows is badly corrupted, or you want to remove old software, a fresh installation may be more sensible. You may need installation media, license access, app installers, and backups of personal files. It is not the same scope as simply copying a working drive, so we quote it separately if offered for your case.

Tell us which outcome matters: keeping the exact setup or starting clean. A clone can carry software problems forward; a clean installation cannot recreate apps and settings automatically.
